Exterior photos
- Each roof slope straight-on and angled
- Ridge, valleys, pipe boots, chimneys, skylights
- Gutters, downspouts, fascia, siding at eaves
- Ground-level hail impacts on AC, deck, mailbox for date correlation
Interior and attic
- Ceiling stains, bubbling paint, wet insulation
- Attic decking daylight, nail pops, cracked rafters if visible
Paper trail
- Claim number and adjuster name
- Dated emails summarizing phone calls
- Carrier estimate and your contractor bid side by side
- Weather verification (NOAA, local news, insurance meteorology reports if provided)
Frequently asked questions
- How many photos are enough?
- More than you think—hundreds for a full roof is normal on disputed claims. Organize by slope and date.
- Can I make repairs before the adjuster comes?
- Emergency repairs are usually allowed—keep invoices and photos of temporary fixes. Permanent repairs before inspection can complicate scope.
